I have been with the Little Apple Soccer Club since 2009. I began playing soccer at age five and started playing year-round outdoor/indoor soccer for select/travelling teams beginning at age ten. I played goalie mostly during my early years, but transitioned to the sweeper/stopper defender position by age twelve. Some of the teams I played for include the Blue Springs Thunderbirds, McDonalds, Lee's Summit Kickers and KC United. I have attended camps hosted by the KC Comets, KC Wizards, and the University of Indiana. I lettered in varsity high school soccer from 1986-1990 at Blue Springs High School in Missouri and played four years of college soccer for William Jewell College, a NAIA Division II school, from 1990-1994. Upon graduation, I stayed with the college as Head Coach of the women's soccer team for two years. I coached youth soccer for the Wave Youth Soccer Organization in Lee's Summit, MO for two seasons prior to starting medical school in 1997. I continue to play and coach in an adult league in Manhattan for team Della Voce.

What I enjoy most about soccer is the unique ability that every player has to develop their individual skills by simply working with a ball, then combining their skills with other players to form a cohesive team. Soccer is a great sport for building endurance, strength, lifelong friendships and strong moral character and can be played year-around.
